Algiers metro: Agents of selling tickets accused of theft

Algiers metro company, lifted a complaint against four employees working at the level of tickets sale, including one woman, accusing them of stealing money of tickets during the months of August and September 2012.

Echorouk learned that the investigating judge of the Fifth Chamber of the Court of Sidi M’hamed, continue listening to the statements of the accused who insisted on being not guilty of these accusations.
The incident was discovered, after the agents of the company monitored the tickets of passengers at Algiers metro stations, and found that some travelers carried tickets containing the same serial number, though it is not possible that two tickets have the same number, therefore, Algiers metro company launched an investigation on the matter, through monitoring the device which is used to print tickets, and concluded that agents of selling tickets printed a copy for each ticket, as the workers of tickets sale kept the ticket for some seconds during its exit from the device, which makes the machine print an other ticket with the same descriptions and number, and the second counterfeited ticket will help him/her to sell it later for a passenger, and stole money without leaving an evidence, because the device registers only one ticket.
But investigation did not reach the number of counterfeited tickets that were sold, and thus the value of the money which was stolen.
The incident occurred between metro stations of Aissat Idir and Hamma.
The accused  who are placed under judicial control, has denied what was attributed to them, asserting that the ticket machine is malfunctioning, which makes it provides false information.
