Algiers: No Metro until 2010

A report of transport committee at People’s National Assembly revealed that Algiers’s Metro will not be ready for transporting people until 2010 although officials had promised to finish it next year.

• The report which was submitted to Algerian President Abdelaziz Bouteflika mentioned the slow works and that
• MPs of the transportation committee and several parliamentary blocs consulted these obstacles on the project.
• One of the most positive points of the project is that facilities constructed, 14 years ago are still safe, said the same report.
• It also indicated that Algerian institutions were in charge of large works which were carried out by Algerian workers.
