Ammar Belani: “Morocco Tries Desperately To Distort Algeria's Reputation Internationally”
Algeria’s ambassador to Brussels, Ammar Belani, put again the points on the letters in response to the false accusations that were made against Algeria, on transferring part of European aid that was destined for the Saharawi refugees in the Tindouf camps (southern Algeria), confirming that the Moroccan authorities are always trying to fish in troubled waters.
“Moroccan regime tries to involve Algeria in the Sahraoui issue, in order to distort its image in the international opinion”.
“Information that is promoted by Morocco over the alleged transfer of a part of the European humanitarian aid that is destined for the Saharaoui refugees in the Tindouf camps (southern Algeria), is not unfounded”.
“Morocco’s sarcastic statements and manipulation of the international public opinion, is a failed attempt to prejudice Algeria. Moroccan authorities are seeking with all ways and means to divert attention on the status of Morocco’s occupation of Western Sahara, and the violations of the human rights of the Sahraouis repression by the Moroccan authorities”.
In response to the recent attacks that were carried out by the Moroccan news agency on the lips of its regime, Belani said, “They are just lies and the agency’s claims about converting part of European aid that was destined for the Saharawi refugees in the Tindouf camps that is documented with evidence are just lies, and they were communicated to the international Group as incorrect, and that the Office of the European commissioner in charge of humanitarian aid, Cristo Stilianid, categorically refuted the false information”.
Moroccan authorities expressed, on Saturday, deep discontent of the statements of Algeria’s ambassador to Brussels, Ammar Blani, as a Moroccan official news agency attacked the Algerian ambassador, saying; “Transferring aid is a real incident, even if it did not please the ambassador. The transfer is documented with evidence, and it was communicated to the international community. A report on the issue was prepared by the European Court to fight fraud, and the World Food Program, and the High Commission for Refugees”.
Same agency accused the Algerian authorities to “facilitate the transfer of the funded aid from the EU budget to officials in the Polisario Front”.
For his part, the Algerian ambassador to Brussels spoke about the provision of humanitarian aid by the European Union: “Cirsto Stilianid, confirmed in April 2016 in response to a written question to an MP Hugues Bayet, that the European Commission is working with a limited number of organizations, who are key partners of the world food program and the UN High Commission for refugees, the Spanish Red Cross and Oxfam to ensure full control of aid”, noting that the humanitarian assistance to the Commission does not offer any political power”.
