Amnesty international suggests mediation to help Algerian prisoners in Libya

Amnesty international organization suggested urgent assistance to the families of Algerian prisoners in Libya in a time Algerian families sent a letter to the Foreign Affairs Minister Mourad Medelsi, in order to halt the implementation of the treaty between Libya and Algeria on exchanging prisoners.

  •  Spokesman of the Algerian prisoners in Libya, Kasmi Abdelkader told Echorouk that they are detained in hard conditions in Libyan prisons after the prison administration displaced 11 of them to the “Sahara prison” as a punishing measure after they called their families and sent MMS via their mobiles.
  • Algerian prisoners in Libya are 62 prisoners; most of them are sentenced to life imprisonment in various cases, while their families confirmed they do not deserve these hard punishments and insist on the fact that Algeria must take into consideration their conditions in Libyan jails since many years ago.
