Anssar-Eddine departs from Al Qaeda in Mali
The Algerian solution over the crisis in Mali favoring dialogue to find an outlet to the long lasting crisis that undermined the stability of the whole region, was consolidated by the group of “Anssar- Eddine” movement that announced its disengagement from Al Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb.
- The leader of this group Ayad Agh Ghali has announced denied the alleged links with AQIM, bolstering thus the Algerian standpoint and discrediting the French position that put all the armed groups operating in the region in the same basket.
- The French president François Hollande has earlier refused to differentiate between the terrorist groups that control swaths of the Malian territory, legitimizing thus, an immediate military intervention in this country to end the crisis and disregarding the view of the neigboring countries including Algeria.
- The Algerian authorities have, in many occasions, called for the necessity to differentiate between the affiliations the various groups operating in the area noting and that the
- “ Movement of Unification and Martyrdom” has paid allegiance to AQIM, the National Movement for the Liberation of Azawad is a secular one and “Anssar- Eddine” movement has a religious background but not affiliated to AQIM.
- The visit paid by the two delegations of Anssar Eddine to Algeria and Burkina- Fasso comes within the framework of the Algerian vision concerning the crisis in Mali, as it considers it illogical to exclude influential parties involved in this conflict, and condemn terrorism.
- To recall, representatives from Anssar-Eddine movement have conferred Sunday night with Gibril Bassolé in Ouagadougou in his quality as the negotiator of the West African Countries Economic Group under the aegis of the UN Security Council with the aim to draw up a military plan for an intervention in Northern Mali.
