Argentina president to visit Algeria
Argentina’s President Cristina Fernandez
Argentina’s President Cristina Fernandez is expected to pay a two-day visit to Algeria on November 16 as part of a tour Maghreb countries including Tunisia, Libya and Egypt.

President Fernandez will be accompanied by Argentine Minister for Federal Planning Julio de Vido and a delegation of 70 businessmen. They are expected to discuss investment matters and south-south cooperation with their Algerian counterparts.

The visit is the first of its kind since Fernandez was in power in December 2007.

Algeria purchased an Argentine-designed nuclear research reactor with 20 percent enriched U-235 fuel in 1985. Algeria was involved in negotiations with Argentina regarding the purchase of pressurized heavy water reactor. Argentina is also an important meat exporter to Algeria.
