Army assault in Tiguentourine: 32 terrorists neutralized, 23 people confirmed dead
The assault led Thursday by the People’s National Army (ANP) Special Forces to free the hostages held by a terrorist group in the gas factory of Tiguentourine in In Amenas (Illizi) ended with the neutralization of 32 terrorists and the death of 23 people, according to a provisional toll provided by interior ministry.
“This intervention resulted in the release of 685Algerian employees and 107 foreigners, 32 terrorists neutralized and the death of 23 people,” said Interior Ministry in a release.
The weapons recovered are composed of “six (6) machine guns (FMPK), 21 PMAK rifles, two shotguns, two 60mm mortars with rockets, 6missiles of type C5 60mm with launchers, 2 RPG7 with 8 rockets, 10 grenades arranged in explosive belts,” said the source, adding that the operation allowed the recovery of “foreign military uniforms and a stock of ammunition and explosives.”
