Attempt to market 100 tons of fake spare parts in Algeria
Customs seized 60 tons of fake spare parts, gold and huge sums on Tarek Ben Ziad frigate in the port of Algiers this week. They also confiscated containers where there was a large number of fake tires. More than four sailors are involved, Echorouk has learnt.
- The spare parts had a sign saying ‘Made in Asia.’ They were caught after they had passed by a scanner. They had been declared as bags and clothing, according to the same sources.
- The case was transferred to security forces as they have doubts about four sailors.
- The seized sums are estimated at more than 20,000 Euros and the seized gold weight is estimated at 16 kg coming from France.
- In the province of Annaba (east of Algiers), 55 tons of fake spare parts were seized.
