Bacalaureat is not an ideological exam : Algerian minister says

Talking on a TV set the education minister, Abu Bakr Ben Bouzid o Saturday declared that there will be no difference between the old and the new baccalaureate systems, and assured the students about the complete transparency of this exam.

• He highlighted the reforms launched five years ago by the president Abdelaziz Boueflika as well as the achievements of this new policy saying that the reforms touched 187 programs at all levels and that 60 million books were produced to cover the needs while only 50% of the overall demand was fulfilled I the past years.
• Making reference to the teachers’ social conditions and the sector’s acts I general, the minister said “Even if the salaries’ rises were substantial, they remain insufficient in comparison to the purchasing power”.
• As to the private schools, the minister reiterated the government’s will to make them abide to the Algerian legislation which obliges them to teach the program in Arabic.
