Bad weather conditions left havoc in northern parts of Algeria

The Torrential rain that battered the Western and central parts of the country were blamed for the killing of 5 persons in the provinces of Tlemcen, Tiaret and Blida and devastated crops in the region of Laghouat( southern Algeria).

  • Dozens of cars were washed away in the ports of Tipasa and Bouharoun ( 70 Kms west of Algiers) and a number of schools were damaged, while the inhabitants of the small town of Kolea ( 45 Kms west of Algiers) took to the streets to protest against the local authorities for being cut off from the outside world due to the chaotic weather conditions.

  • A special bulletin issued by the weather services foresees more rain today in the central parts of the country.
  •  
  • Several areas in the eastern part of the province of Tipasa including Bouharoun, Khemisti , Bousmail, and Douaouda were inundated and registered power outages and gas leaks.
