Bad weather: Wounded, displaced and trapped due to snowstorm
Bad weather continued for the fourth day, as density of snowfall throughout Thursday night to Friday led to the closure of 70 national roads across 19 wilayas, in addition to the suspension of air traffic east of the country, according to proceeds of the national gendarmerie on Friday, which also recorded a death in the Algiers, and wounded eastern Algeria due to the collapse of their houses.
Most of the neighborhoods noticed a state of panic among citizens, due to the torrential rains, which fell over the last two days, as the population was unable to sleep, fearing the collapse of their homes, like the neighborhood of Almakria, where a state of emergency was declared.
Services of the civil protection recorded a death case in the Municipality of Gué de Constantine, as a result of leakage of carbon dioxide gas, leading to suffocation of a young aged 25.
Residents in the neighborhoods of Almalha, Arramli, Baraki, Hai Al Falah in Oued Ouvhayeh faced the same problem, and on the other hand, inhabitants in the of neighborhood Bouhmara, in Bordj el Kiffan remain stuck, despite the dangers that threatened them from all sides, because of impending landslides that threaten residents.
Injured in the collapse of fragile houses eastern Algeria
Strong winds that hit some eastern cities of the country on Thursday night to Friday, caused the collapse of chaotic houses leaving four injuries injured with varying degrees, in the district of Sidi Harb in Annaba, in addition to cracking of several buildings in the old city of La Place D’arme in Annaba, where four people were evacuated and taken to the Hospital of Ibn Rouchd.
Inhabitants of fragile houses in the old city Swika in Constantine (eastern Algeria), considered one of the oldest cities in the world, asked for urgent displacement to their new houses that were promised by government, after the collapse of many houses without recording any human lost and casualties.
Snow led to the closure of several roads in Skikda, Gualma and Constantine, after snow thickness reached 50 centimeters, and in Oum El Bawaki 15 families were forced to spend the night in the street, as a result of the collapse of their homes, and in Setif and Bordj Bouariridj, the movement seemed almost paralyzed, especially in the Northern villages.
