Belaïz launches signs on Bouteflika’s intention to run for office

Algerian interior minister Tayeb Belaïz Monday said a large reshuffle will be conducted among prefects in June and the General Inspection Department of the ministry will be reactivated.

This comes amid questions about Algerian President Abdelaziz Bouteflika’s intention to run for office for a fourth term. Belaïz’s announcement embodies a “message” saying that the president officially decided to run for another term.

The minister said his ministry works on opening and developing modern communications mean.

“Communication cells in Algeria will be provided with human resources able to meet local correspondents and journalists’ work requirements,” he told Echorouk.

He criticized bureaucracy and announced a number of urgent practical measures to improve government service.

He also said the interior ministry suggested to create more than 20,000 jobs in the police in the finance draft law 2014.

“The State will remain generous so that people will be convinced that they are safe and stable.”

Speaking about people born abroad, he said they will be allowed to draw their civil situation documents from their living areas instead of going to the foreign ministry in the capital.

A set of documents will be banned from administrative applications. “This would make people very close to the administration,” said Belaïz.
