Belkhadem leaves, his supporters surrender

Sixth ordinary session of FLN’s Central Committee concluded at four pm on Saturday ,under tough circumstances and disagreement on who will lead the old party after Belkhadem, in a state of uncertainty about the “unknown leader” who will succeed him, as the Central Committee did not finish its differences and fission, which was between two groups during the withdrawing of confidence from the former Secretary-General, Abdelaziz Belkhadem, before the orientations of Belkhadem foes divided to three wings, because of the position of the Secretary-General, therefore FLN becomes fluctuated between four orientations.

Members of the Central Committee wait long hours in Riyadh hotel (Algiers), while their nerves were burning on how to resolve the dispute with supporters of Belkhadem, to decide about a unified decision between the conflicting parties, which did not occur until the parties received “high instructions”, after two pm, which spended about closing the session, and to defer the election of the Secretary-General to an emergency session, in the next few days, as the former Secretary-General Abdelaziz Belkhadem lefy without attending the conclusion of the session.
The Central Committee has continued its proceedings, on Saturday morning, attended by supporters of Belkhadem, as the candidatures’ Commission, which included six members of the pro-Belkhadem only, received objection of opponents, and three members announced their candidature for the General Secretariat, and it comes to Mrs. Mouftali Yamina, a MP for Tizi Ouzou, and Mrs. Halima Ibrahim, a MP for the south of France in Marseilles, and Mr. Ahmed Hanoufa, in addition to the three candidates of Saturday, Noureddine Assad, Hallaf Baya Nassima and Senator Djafar Noureddine.
At the time Abdelaziz Belkhadem refused to declare his desire to run or not for the General Secretariat again, his opponents, led by Abdelkarim Abada, kept on, in the reception hall of Riyad Hotel holding side interviews, to declare their opposition to the work of the Central Committee, accusing the bailiff of conducting the works and supervision instead of doing its real work which is follow-up and control, as they also refused to disclose the names of their candidates for the General Secretariat, as well as membership in the candidatures Commission.
Belkhadem said, on the sidelines of the work of the Central Committee, that the Committee continues to receive candidates, adding: “I am just a member of the Central Committee now, and for me, the most important thing is ending the crisis of the party, and I did not receive a call from the second party.”
Si Afif: People who betrayed Belkhadem were pressurized by their ministers
Abdul Hamid Si Afif, a member of FLN Political Bureau, told Echorouk that, the votes which “betrayed” Belkhadem, were pressurized, adding: “Officials -Minister- forced members of the Central Committee, who are working in their sectors, and there are about 15 members of the central Committee who work in directorates that are belonging to the sectors of the party’s ministers who opposed Belkhadem.
Ziari: We will consult Bouteflika and prefer testimonial
Member of the Political Bureau of the National Liberation Front, Abdelaziz Ziari, told Echorouk, that his wing prefers testimonial without resorting to polls, adding, “If necessary we will go to the polls, and there is no proposed name, we will begin consultation from today, and we will consult President Abdelaziz Bouteflika, because he is the honorary president of the party”.
Hadjar: I will not run, renewing confidence in Belkhadem is a mess
Leader in FLN party, Abdelkader Hadjar, said it is impossible to nominate Abdelaziz Belkhadem, morally after withdrawing confidence from him, explaining that “If the Central Committee will renew confidence in Belkhadem, it is a mess commission”, and emphasizing that he would not run; “They asked me that and I refused. We should consult President Bouteflika, in the proposal for the post of Secretary-General, as the central Committee will also be consulted” explaining; “The post of Secretary General is not only a legal position, it is a political and moral position as well.”
