Belkhadem sole candidate to succeed himself!
Abdelaziz Belkhadem mixed the accounts of his opponents when the bailiff announced, on Friday, that the voting session on the Secretary-General is not yet finished, asserting that Belkhadem is still the provisional manager of FLN until the election of his successor, with the need to complete the second part of the agenda of the session, which is opening candidature again.
The decision sparked distraught of Balkhadem’s opponents, who were unable to show a reaction to the development and acceleration of events within the old party, especially after Belkhadem entered the meeting hall in Riyadh hotel within eleven thirty am surrounded by his supporters on the impact of applauding and ululating, and sat in the front row as a member of the central Committee, to take a short speech, saying: “The party used on Friday morning a democratic strategy, and the voting process ended by withdrawing confidence from the Secretary-General, and must continue, because I suggested not to leave the party in a blank crisis, because its size and presence in the government does not allow survival without a head”.
Secretary-General, who lost confidence, proposed 3:00 pm to resume the works of the session, and before he overlies the podium, the bailiff declared to resume the session on Friday, confirming that it is not yet closed, while Belkhadem said, for his part, that he will open the candidature after the formation of a Commission that includes 12 members, shared equally by the two parties, to elect a new Secretary General, if the matter will not take place here on Saturday, the session will remain open for receiving the candidatures, and a later date for holding the session and electing a new Secretary General will be set in another date, and in the meantime, the Secretary-General remains the interim manager of the party”, announcing the adjournment of the meeting to the afternoon.
Belkhadem’s speech did not face a clear opposition inside the hall, as the Minister of Post Moussa Ben Hamadi rushed to leave, saying in a brief statement to Echorouk, that he has no personal position to what Belkhadem siad, because the final decision is the Central Committee’s, while he had said before Belkhadem entered to the hall that the goal is to maintain the party’s unity, expecting from the Secretary-General, who lost confidence, to say a word which aimed for this context.
The rest of FLN’s ministers were absent, during the morning except with Rachid Herraoubia, as leader were unable to take a quick decision on how to deal with Belkhadem’s suprise, which they thought they were able to dislodge him, after the voting process that was not in his favor, while the spokesman of the party Issa Kassa asserted that, the session’s program included two phases, and it is not reasonable to accept the first phase, and rejected the second phase, which is announcing the candidatures once again.
Division of opponents may bring back Blekhadem
Member of FLN’s Political Bureau and a supporter of Belkhadem, Abdelhamid Si Afif said, that divisions within the opponents would be in favor of the Secretary-General, who lost confidence, adding that Belkhadem is their only candidate, versus the multiple contenders for the post of Secretary General for the opposing party, who is Saleh Goudjil, Abderrazak Bouhara, Amar Tou, and Abdelaziz Ziari, which will lead to distracting their voices, so as the result will return in favor of Belkhadem, who announced in a statement to Echorouk that FLN entered in a crisis since Thursday, without revealing his intention to run.
It seems that Belkhadem’s supporters organized the Central Committee accurately, and did not leave any port for the opponents, who have committed a strategic mistake after accepting its agenda, which the leadership allocated for it bailiffs to implement it, because that will oblige them to complete the second phase of the agenda, which is opening candidatures again, otherwise the results of the vote will be canceled, a decision that was opposed by Abdelkader Hadjar, saying that the bailiff has no right to imposes the deadlines for elections, and his mission is only overseeing the elections, recognized that the party is facing a real crisis, and that this requires consultation with the party’s members because the difference was in the formation of the Office of the session, which is what the opponents wanted by making the session open until agreement on a common candidate.
