Ben Bada:”We will not allow importation of cars with less than three years”
Mostafa Ben Bada, Algerian Trade Minister

Government will not open the trade of importing cars with less than three years since their production, Trade Minister, Mostafa Ben Bada says.

Ben Bada added that the process is not programmed in agenda of public authorities currently, despite the pressures that could be acted by some countries of eurozone especially, as a condition for joining Algeria to the world trade organisation.

Ben Bada asserted, during a press conference on Tuesday, at the general directorate in the exhibition palace SAFEX, that government may resort to other options, in order to avoid commitment to the condition of the world trade organisation, through doubling customs’ duties and fees to record levels to import such type of cars.

In contrast, Ben Bada criticised the deficit at the level of the wholesale and retail markets, especially those related to distributing the fresh goods like fruits and vegetables, bringing the cause to the imbalance of markets and weakness of distribution cell, and the grave lack of commercial infrastructures.

“40 markets of fruits and vegetables across 36 wilayas lack to the conformity applicable standards, because most of them were realised in 1990. 31 markets lack the place that does not respond to international standards, especially as Algeria has 40 wholesale markets. 80 % of these markets are conducted by local communities and 20 % of them belong to the private institutions.
