Body of Algerian prisoner Abdellah Belhadi “retained” in Baghdad hospital
Family of the Algerian prisoner, who faced death penalty in Iraq, Abdellah Belhadi, called upon the President on Tuesday to intervene in order to speed up the administrative procedures relating to the transfer of his body , before the Iraqi authorities decide to bury him in the Iraqi soil, once the two-month period of execution will end, as the Iraqi Ministry of Justice announced the implementation of the death penalty on last October 7.
Ali Belhadi, the elder brother of the Algerian prisoner, was astonished, during his visit to the headquarters of “Echorouk”, due to the official statements of the Algerian embassy in Iraq, which advised them to go to the International Red Cross, to get financial aid to cover the cost of transport and the various procedures, as they told them that the value of expenses estimated at 500.000 ZDZ, and also told them that the Red Cross can cover transportation expenses.
“I proceeded contacts with the Algerian embassy in Iraq, last week, and they told me that they did not receive the document of the death penalty from the Ministry of Justice, and when i called them on Tuesday morning they confirmed that the procedures under way, however, the issue of transport and which require a sum of money of 500.000 ZDZ, and are waiting to be sent by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. “
Iraqi authorities announced, that the duration of burying the bodies of those executed is two months, which means that in case of non-completion of procedures for transferring the body Belhadi, before 7 December, based on the date of announcement of the execution Oct 7, the Algerian prisoner will be buried in Iraq, and stay with him the heart burn of his family in Oued Souf.
Although the elder brother of Abdellah Belhadi, make sure of the death of his brother through contacting the Hospital of Baghdad, which confirms the existence of the body as “Abdellah Belhadi”, but the mother of the deceased is still skeptical of his death, and is living a pitiful situation, demanding to see her son’s body to cut doubt of mystery with certainty.
Ali Belhadi said “The video aired by one of the satellite channels did not show Abdellah among those who were taken for execution.”
