Bouteflika determines his deputy minister’s prerogatives
Algerian President Abdelaziz Bouteflika issued a decree to determine the prerogatives of the defense deputy minister position which was established following the last government reshuffle.
Defense deputy minister assists the minister and conducts his prerogatives under his supervision. He can sign all the documents and decisions and he is in charge of collecting and dealing with all the letters intended to the national defense minister.
Newly appointed as deputy defense minister Gaïd Salah supervises studies related to the government actions and represents the ministry in this regard. He is in charge of the ministry’s relations with the State’s institutions and every national organization out of the National Popular Army.
Bouteflika also assigned Gaïd Salah to deal with economic, financial and budget-related issues and coordinate the plan for the development of the national defense ministry. He is the chairman of deals ministerial committee and applies the minister’s instructions about human resources.
According to the presidential decree, the deputy defense minister is also in charge of collecting appointment suggestions and presenting them to the minister. He supervises international accords about nuclear, biological, chemical and conventional weapons and mines.
He also determines scientific and technical research policy axes in technology, military industry and armament field.
