Bouteflika gives judicial police to intelligence department
A military appeal tribunal will be created and military security officers will have judicial police prerogatives. President Abdelaziz Bouteflika signed the Financial Act and dismissed senior officials.
The cabinet meeting which was chaired by President Bouteflika discussed a number of draft laws. Of them, there was laws related to justice sector. A draft law includes changes to military justice as it was proposed to create a military appeal tribunal.
Earlier in September 2013, President Bouteflika signed a decree to dissolve the intelligence judicial police.
The cabinet meeting also approved a draft law to make changes to penal procedures code. Guarantees for a fair trial will be reinforced and a person will not be sentenced twice for the same acts. Prosecuted people’s rights will be protected by virtue of justified provisions and judicial decisions.
Another draft law was approved to modify the judicial organization law. It includes the creation of a penal appeal court in every court.
President Bouteflika called on his ministers to continue concretizing the revised Constitution’s provisions in terms of the promotion and protection of people’s freedoms.
He also called on judges to exercise all their prerogatives to ensure the respect of people’s rights and freedoms.
The African Bank’s loan will be paid in 20 years
The cabinet meeting examined and approved a presidential decree for a 900 million euros loan from the African Development Bank to be paid in 20 years.
The Maghrebin affairs minister Abdelkader Messahel made a presentation about Algeria’s democracy experience in fighting violent extremism and terrorism.
He said many nations are interested in Algeria’s endeavour.
The cabinet meeting also examined and approved individual decisions to appoint and dismiss senior officials.
