Algerian President Abdelaziz Bouteflika will chair a council of ministers in the next few days after his long absence due to health troubles.

This will be the first meeting since December 2012. Algeria’s Prime Minister Abdelamlek Sellal said the president will resume his work by examining the Finance Law 2014 which includes very important legislative clauses in economic and social field.
The council of ministers will also examine and approve about 20 draft bills including changes to the law on energy and hydrocarbons which opens door to exploit renewable energies. It will also examine changes to the penal code by issuing new sanctions against raping children as well as audiovisual law.
The Finance Law includes encouraging measures in favor of young people and new easing measures for direct foreign investments in an attempt to catch up the serious decrease in foreign investments due to the Complementary Finance Law 2009. A new legislation is expected to be promulgated to reduce fuel high consumption.
