Bouteflika will run for fourth term says Ould Abbas
Algeria’s former health minister and member of the Council of the Nation Djamel Ould Abbas renewed its support to President Abdelaziz Bouteflika’s fourth term, saying he will supervise his electoral campaign.
“We have guarantees that President Bouteflika’s health condition is good and he can run for a fourth term. He just has to decide that,” Ould Abbas told Echorouk on Monday.
“I will supervise his electoral campaign as his health state is improving day after day. Earlier on Monday, he chaired a cabinet meeting and he received the Egyptian foreign minister Nabil Fahmi on Sunday,” he added.
He criticized members of Algeria’s National Liberation Front (FLN) for being in conflict and called them to respect the majority’s opinion before the next presidential elections.
Asked whether President Bouteflika would intervene to solve the party’s crisis, Ould Abbas said the president will not intervene in the FLN’s crisis.
He denied allegations that President Bouteflika held a secret meeting with his former head of government Ali Benflis ahead of the elections.
“Bouteflika is a candidate and Benflis is another candidate for the elections 2014,” he said.
