Bouteflika’s supporters deliver 1.5 million signatures

Presidential alliance parties and civil society organizations are expected to deliver more than 1.5 million signatures for signatures for presidential candidate support to the department of Abdelaziz Bouteflika’s campaign on Friday, according to officials.

• President Bouteflika will submit his file to run for office to the Constitutional Council on February 23 as deadlines expire at that date.
• Movement for Peace and Society (MSP), the National Liberation Front (FLN) and the National Rally for Democracy (RND) starting collecting signatures for Bouteflika immediately after he had announced run for office.
• Eight organizations joined the endeavour including war veterans, scouts, terrorism victims and unions.
• Some 600,000 signatures were collected by the RND while the FLN get 700,000. The MSP which has not finish the process yet is expected to reach 250,000 signatures.
