British Petroleum announced that it froze its energy projects in Ain Amenas and Ain Saleh which were planned by Algeria and its partners in 2014.

British Petroleum’s CEO said partnership projects with Algeria’s energy group Sonatrach and Norway’s Statoil were frozen following January’s terrorist attack on a gas complex in Tiguentourine in Ain Amenas in southern Algeria.
As the projects stopped, Algeria’s gas production will continue to fall to record levels as it decreased by 18 percent.
The attack was carried out by Al-Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb killing 40 workers while the Algerian army liberated 800 hostages.
Earlier, British Petroleum announced that it was still committed to continue its activities in Algeria and that its workers would come back soon as security measures had been stepped up in the gas field.
