Cabinet meeting to buy social peace

Algeria’s cabinet meeting chaired by President Abdelaziz Bouteflika Sunday passed a series of draft laws including the Finance Law, the audiovisual law and the law on the fight against children kidnapping.

The meeting which comes after 10 months of absence passed 7 legislative draft texts, according to a release from the President’s Office.
The finance draft law concretizes economic growth rate of 4.5 percent and reduces inflation to 3.5 percent. It focuses on continuing the achievement of the president’s economic development program.
The Finance Law includes legislative measures meant to encourage investment, employ young people, support housing projects, supervise investment, meet people’s needs and continue national solidarity
policy.
The meeting also passed a draft law on the settlement of 2011’s budget. A draft law on penal code meant to adapt the national legislation to international accords related to human rights was passed.
The meeting also passed a draft law related to the fight against fuel smuggling on borders and a draft bill related to mines meant to encourage investment.
The audiovisual law was one of the important draft texts passed by the meeting. It is meant to practically open the audiovisual field to private operators and determine conditions to create audiovisual channels.
Bouteflika’s recommendations for tripartite meeting President Bouteflika urged ministers to develop national production and reinforce local industry and stressed those points during a tripartite meeting due to be held on October 10th.
He asked all the ministries to enhance national industrial efforts through local entrepreneurship, investment promotion, innovative projects encouragement and permanent jobs creation.
He warned against delay caused by ministers in the achievement of his five-year-plan and all the workshop works. He stressed the necessity of coordinating between ministries and mobilizing national capacities and all the economic and financial stockholders.
Bouteflika also stressed the necessity of having efficient and transparent administration and improving public services, saying people has the right to rely on public agents and have high quality
public services regardless their social situation.
Bouteflika asks to prepare for next elections Bouteflika said all the necessary measures should be taken ahead of the next presidential elections due to be held in 2014.
