Celebrating Algerians fuel streets of Paris and arouse the curiosity of the French

As part of the surging momentum of victory celebrations touched off by the Algeria football team’s meritorious qualification on Tuesday for the 2014 World cup finals in Brazil, a large number of joyful Algerian fans gathered in front of Qatar’s Embassy premises in the Champs Elysées Avenue in central Paris but were swiftly dispersed by French security forces with no incident being reported.

Some cheerful Algerian youngsters also raised the Palestinian flag alongside the national Algerian flag.

Although the French national football squad also snatched their qualifying ticket for the next World cup tournament after a second-leg  3-nil home win versus Ukraine on Tuesday, many young people of Algerian origin preferred to raise the Algerian national emblems, chanting in unison the famous rhyme : “One,Two, Three,Viva l’Algérie”.

The Algeria team’s much-awaited qualification also triggered widespread scenes of joy and exhilaration on the part of numerous Algerians settled in other French cities notably Marseille, Lyon, Bordeaux, Lille, Montpellier, etc…

Cafeterias in many French cities where there is a large density of Algerian and other Maghrebian nationals, were packed by enthusiastic football fans who followed the TV broadcast Algeria-Burkina Faso play-off match in these cafés in an atmosphere of frenzied excitement and fervor.

Shortly after the Algeria team’s 1-nil victory over the Burkinabe squad, synonymous with qualification, many of them took to the streets brandishing the Algerian national flags to express their great cheerfulness and merriment arousing the curiosity of French passers-by notably in Paris and in other areas of France.
