Chadli Bendjedid's relative to Echorouk: “Chadli died of kidney cancer disease”

A close relative of late Chadli Bendjedid told Echorouk that the former Algerian president had been suffering for many years from kidney illness which precipitated his demise last Saturday at the military hospital “Mohamed Seghir Nekkache” of Ain Naidja in the eastern suburbs of Algiers.

• He also indicated that late Chadli Bendjedid had spent a whole week in late September for intensive medical care at this hospital but his health condition suddenly took a turn for the worse as heart problems compounded his kidney cancer disease.
• Our interlocutor further denied certain mendacious reports saying that late Chadli Bendjedid had been transferred to France for treatment at the Valle de Grace hospital stressing that Bendjedid had preferred to follow up on his intensive medical care here in Algeria and not overseas.
