Change will touch Bouteflika’s opponents

After the appointment of Algeria FLN party’s new leader and government reshuffle, it is the turn of public organizations starting from the General Union of Algerian Workers which can be mobilized for the next presidential elections.

According to sources, the Union’s Secretary General Sidi Said will be dismissed within few days under the pretext of health troubles.

This is part of the operation which targeted all the political and economic personalities who were against Algeria President Abdelaziz Bouteflika on his trip to France for treatment.

It is believed that the change will also touch chairmen of the Union’s national bureau and provincial unions as it is said some national secretaries started paving the way to Ali Benflis, a would-be candidate for the elections.

The same sources said Sidi Said will have to resign before the Union’s next conference due to be held early in 2014. Otherwise, a national change will dismiss him as it happened to many political parties in the last two years including the FLN and the RND.
