French newspapers Friday reflected the shock left by an attack on Charlie Hebdo and condemned what they called “barbarism,” the “war against freedom,” and “disgusting blackmail.” Some newspapers were in black while others talked about the September 11th’s attacks that “reached France.”

Le Figaro’s main headline was “Liberty assassinated.” It said in its front-page editorial that “this is war. A real war, not by soldiers, but by shadowy assassins, methodical and organised assassins whose quiet savagery freezes the blood.”

It also called on society to unite against terrorism.

As for the leftwing Libération, its headline was “We are all Charlie.”

La Croix talked about on reactions to the attack. It published stories about the social media movement #JeSuisCharlie.

Terrifying testimonies of witnesses who survived the massacre

The French press also published testimonies of people who were in the Charlie Hebdo’s newsroom when the attack took place.

Two hours after the International Business Times had published a story that suggested that Mossad, the Israeli intelligence agency, was behind the terrorist attack carried out on Charlie Hedbo.

It said that “Mossad of Israel is a prime contender” for who was behind yesterday’s attack on Charlie Hebdo.

“It is believed that Israel has a grouse against France, especially because French MPs voted in favour of recognising the Palestinian state and also France voted against Israel at the UN recently, conspiracy bloggers such as ‘Aangirfan’ note,” the article said.
