The renowned Egyptian TV sports anchorman of the channel “Al Hayet”, Ahmed Choubir, on a visit to Algeria, was the guest of honour yesterday of the newspaper Echorouk Al Yaoumi as part of the awareness – raising campaign advocating fair – play and sportsmanship in football in expectation of the crucial World cup Egypt – Algeria qualifier slated for November 14th in Cairo.

This laudable initiative came at a time when wise persons in both Algeria and Egypt launched a call to show wisdom and brotherhood between Algerian and Egyptian fans, Ahmed Choubir explained.

Choubir, who is regarded as one of the most neutral and sensible Egyptian journalists, considers the upcoming Egypt – Algeria qualifier as an Arab fixture opposing 2 brotherly nations united by the same Arab language and the same religion of Islam.

Accompanied by the top Manager of Echorouk newspaper, Ahmed Choubir went to the Egyptian Embassy in Algiers for a meal with the Egyptian Ambassador here who seized this opportunity to express his utmost backing for the peace – seeking initiative between the Algerians and the Egyptians ahead of the November 14th World cup qualifier.

After having thanked the newspaper Echorouk for the very warm welcome extended to the Egyptian delegation, the Egyptian Ambassador pointed out that the Egypt – Algeria qualifier should be regarded as a football game between 2 brotherly countries with each of them deserving equally to qualify for the 2010 World cup.
