Christiano Ronaldo Fifa's World Player of the Year

Manchester United striker Cristiano Ronaldo has been chosen FIFA World Footballer of the Year

• The award of the FIFA Player of the Year trophy was given to the Portuguese star Christiano Ronaldo .  
•  The 24-year old player is a Portuguese footballer who plays as a winger for English Premier League club Manchester United F.C. and the Portuguese national team.
• The Portuguese star  holds  also the  Ballon d’Or for the European Footballer of the Year. He beat off competition from Brazil’s Kaka, Argentina’s Messi as well as Spanish stars Fernando Torres and Xavi.
• Ronaldo scored 42 goals in the 2007-2008 season and was a key part of Manchester United’s UK Premiership and European Champions League double.
