Competences returning to Algeria will get same privileges abroad, says Higher Education Minister

Algeria provided adequate conditions for Algerian researchers abroad if they decide to come back to their homeland, according to Algerian Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Rachid Haraoubia.The minister said those researchers who work in international universities will enjoy all privileges in accordance to their scientific ranks.“Their scientific experiences will be taken in consideration,” he said in a workshop organised on Thursday.

Previously, scientific competences used to be subject to new recruitment.

This official statement came in the form of an implicit call to teachers in western and Arab universities and reflected how much Algeria needs those researchers who preferred to immigrate and leave their country.

Asked about the value of the theory scientific researches, Haraoubia said the theory aspect can not be separated from the practical one. “The scientific research takes in consideration all these aspects.”

 “However, other sides must play their role as economic institutions do not submit demands to research institutions for modern scientific researches.” The minister revealed that there are 28,450 researchers at different universities. “This large number needs to put standards to regulate it.”
