Constitutional Amendment Commission independent, unrestricted, PM Sellal says

Preparation of a draft constitutional amendment will be launched by the services of Prime Ministry, based on the proposals which it received during the sessions with political parties, represented by the two parliament chambers, PM Abdelmalek Sellal says.

Sellal said, in a statement to media, during the inauguration of the commission in charge of reviewing the constitution on Monday at the government palace: “Proposals that were expressed democratically by the majority of participants in consultations, that were managed by the head of the nation’s council, then I supervised personally, were exploited by a working group that was created for this goal, as it prepared a preliminary document, using the high presidential instruction”.

“This document that was recently prepared us the one that I was charged by the president of republic to bring for you. It will form the basis of your work, with independence and necessary firmness. Constitutional amendment aims in general to condition the high law of the country with the modern constitutional requirements that are brought by the quick social development and the current global transformations, like it was confirmed strongly by the President of the Republic”, in reference to the Arab Spring which destroyed the regimes of neighbouring countries.

“This commission is unrestricted and there is no prior limits to the constitutional amendment, with except to the limits of national principles, values and founding principles of the Algerian society, which embodies its sad history and ancient civilisation, and its future vision, that carried the values and principles that are shared by all the Algerians citizens”.

Constitutional amendment commission. Will be headed by Azouz Kerdoune, and the membership of the nation’s council, Fouzia Ben Badis, Bouzid Lazhari, and the former justice minister, Ghaouthi Mekamcha, and Abderrazak Zouina.
