Cotonsport reach group phase
Cameroon's Cotonsport reached the group phase of the Champions League for the first time despite suffering a 2-1 defeat at the hands of JS Kabylie on Friday.
The visitors lost the third round, second leg match to the Algerians but managed to advance 4-2 on aggegate.
The Cameroonians jubilated their defeat in Tizi-Ouzou because their aggregate victory took them to the last eight of the competition for the first time.
Two-time winners Enyimba of Nigeria also advanced to the group phase despite losing their second leg game also on Friday.
Enyimba, African champions in 2003 and 2004, were beaten 2-1 by Club Africain in Tunisia but had a comfortable 5-1 lead from the home leg of their tie. |
