The National Independent Council of High School Teachers suspended its three-week-strike as the Algerian national education minister satisfied the Union’s demands. The striking teachers announced that they are ready to reinbourse the missed courses.

The ministry decided to not apply layoffs for striking teachers as they comitted to reinburse all the missed courses during 3 weeks.

Press attaché at the Council Messaoud Boudiba said the strike was suspended on Tuesday following an urgent meeting held at Hassiba Ben Bouali high school in Algiers.

« The working session which was held by the ministry and the Union on Monday in Algiers came up with positive results as the ministry banned some of its decisions, » he told Echorouk on the phone.

He added that the education minister Baba Ahmed Abdelatif said he is comitted to not apply layoffs on striking teachers provided that they reinburse all the missed courses from annual schooling programs.
