Criminality: 1,608 sexual abuse on kids during one year
First dean of police, Kheira Nassoidane, head of the office for protecting childhood at the general directorate of the national security, warned of the rise of incest cases in 2012, as official statistics registered 12 cases. This figure remain far from the reality due to the underreporting.
Same official revealed, on the sidelines of giving the starting signal of the Algerian year for public prevention in urban environment, that security services to return 286 kids to their families, including 191 kids who escaped home among them 65 girls.
“Criminality of sexual abuse on kids is taking dangerous dimensions as figures reach 1,608 sexual abuses against kids in 2012”, she said.
The official refuted the treatment of any case related to organs trade, saying the parents are responsible for the disappearance and transformation of their kids, which is mainly due to familial abundance, complacency and indifference.
“Abusers exploit time and place to kidnap kids, both in deserted places during the siesta time when kids are alone in streets, and in crowded places like the popular markets. Media exaggerate while providing information about kids kidnaping, which caused terror among Algerian families, especially after the incidents of “Shaima” and “Sundous”. Cases of kids murder are few and weak, and investigations confirm the theory of running away from home and kidnaping”.
