Criminality: 200 criminals arrested per day in Algeria
According to the latest statistics provided by the National Gendarmerie, show that 42 cases of abduction were registered during the past 12 months, and 147 cases were registered during the last five years, as 82% of these cases are caused by sexual abuse. While 77000 criminals were arrested during the same period, which is equivalent to 200 criminals every day.
Colonel Ben revealed Noman Taher, director of public security at the leadership of the National Gendarmerie, said Algeria counted 42 cases of abduction in 2012, mostly due sexual assaults. During the presentation on Wednesday , of the outcome of the annual activity of the judicial police for the year 2012, at the National Gendarmerie, Colonel Ben Nomane added that involving members of a platoon of security and intervention in the field of combating crime helped containing the situation to stop the accused, which resulted in recording 73000 crimes, including 4000 felonies and more than 59000 misdemeanor, 1800 offenses and 1000 court orders, noticing an increase of 1.70% with respect to the issues of treating files, compared to 2011 with 4% with regard to persons arrested, with a figures estimated to 77000 people, which is equivalent to 200 criminals every day.
Services of the National Gendarmerie examined more than 12000 cases of organized crime, which represent 16% of the offenses, noticing a rise 4%, with the involvement of 14000 people, who represent 18% of the total number of detainees.
With regard to illegal drugs trafficking, they have recorded 3147 issues, which represent 25% of the organized crime, with 12% compared to 2011 , and 4951 involved with 64% who are less than 30 years old. As 3319 people were place in solitary prison, while they seized more than 73 tons of cannabis, and more than half a million of hallucinogens, and 10 quintales of drugs were drowned across 11 coastal cities.
