Customs seize modern devices to spy on Algeria state secrets at Houari Boumediene Airport

A team of the inspectorate of customs’ departments at theinternational airport Houari Boumediene, seized on Saturday more than600 pieces and very sophisticated electronic devices, that are used inespionage operations, like keys holders and watches that are fittedwith digital cameras with no larger than 2 centimeters, as the priceof one of them is 700.000 ZDZ, that were smuggled to Algeria throughthe airport of “Doha”, without having a license from the Ministry ofnational defense.

Details of the operation, according to information available to

Echorouk, dating back to Saturday within 1:30 pm, on Friday prayers,

as the plane came from the international airport of Qatar “Doha”

number “k. R.” flight 566, and during the routine inspection of

baggage of travelers, and passing through a scanner, security services

found black bags inside luggage, and when they opened them, they found

black bags which contain carriers of keys fitted with surveillance

cameras with no larger than 2 centimeters and microphones, which read

“mimi dv” and watches with the same equipment of type “4 gb-sc”, and

they booked more than 500 keys carriers and more than 40 hand watches,

the price of one of them is 700.000 ZDZ.

During the investigation, with the person 35, who is dealer and

descended from Setif (eastern Algeria), security services found that

he has not obtained a license from the security services, especially

the Ministry of National Defense, because they are modern electronic

devices that are used in espionage, and which pose a major threat to

the security of the Algerian state and affect the personal and private

life of persons.

Services of customs contacted security services to protect state

security, which began in turn to open a thorough investigation into

the case for its sensitivity, and to find out whether the suspected

person has a relationship with internal and international cells, that

have links to spying networks, which use such tools and modern

devices, in addition to examining the possibility of the existence of

the source of such modern and dangerous devices has relationships with
