Dahmane keen to play for Algeria
Mohamed Dahmane

Mohamed Dahmane, the striker of Belgian club RAEC Mons says he is eager to play for Algerian football squad and he is impatiently waiting for the opportunity to join the “Greens.”

  • The French-born Algerian player denied allegations that he is thinking of playing for the French team. “I will be the happiest player if coach Rabeh Saadane calls me to play with the Greens,” he told Echorouk in an interview.
  • “Saadane did not call me but I have been told I was watched. It will be an honor for me to play for the national squad,” he said.
  • “Actually, I have been waiting for this opportunity for a long time,” he added.
  • Dahmane also said he had a feeling that he “would be there with the Greens in the world cup qualifiers.”
  • Speaking on AC Sienne’s Adbelkader Ghezzal who is a new comer of the Algerian squad, Dahmane said he will play a complementary role with Ghezzal.
  •  “Our ways of playing are different.”
  • “I watched Ghezzal in his last match against Mali and I liked how he was playing. But for me, I play a complementary role with Ghezzal in the striking line,” the left-footed striker said.
  • “Playing together make us not afraid of any defence,” he asserted.
  • Dahmane scored seven goals with Mons which signed him in January 2006 from Belgian Third Division.
  • On the other hand, he raised controversies around him with former Mons coach Thierry Pister. Some reports made a bad image on him as he allegedly caused serious troubles.
  • Dahmane said he does not care about those rumors. “I am a professional player and a university graduate. I am faithful in my religious duties which may have provoked Belgians to make a bad image on me.”
