Danish official: comparison between Algeria and Kabul is unreasonable

Danish embassy in Algeria refused to say that security situation in the North African country is like what is happening in Afghanistan following the closure of Denmark’s embassies in Algiers and Kabul.

According to a diplomat at the Danish embassy in Algiers, there is no way to compare the security situation in Algeria with the one in Algeria.

Anonymously speaking, the official told Echorouk Al Yaoumi that he had recently come to Algeria and was surprised by the security stability there. “It does not reflect what Western media reports at all.”

He denied that Copenhagen had closed its embassy in Algeria but it just transferred it to a secret location. “Our embassy has not closed its doors in Algiers and it exercises its work in a normal way.”

The Danish official said the embassy is working on the last preparations before announcing the new headquarters.

Earlier, Denmark evacuated personnel from its embassies in Algeria and Afghanistan because of terror threats following the republication of blasphemous cartoons of the Prophet Mohamed (Peace Be Upon Him).
