Defence ministry decides pension increase for retired military elements

Military officers and civil personnel working for the military institution considered unfit for service will benefit from damages estimated at 27 thousand Algerian Dinars monthly in addition to the review of the retirement allowance regularly, the defence minister has decided.

• The new retirement law includes four important revisions for the benefit of the military troops like the one that allows the elements that have been called up again by the military institution and suffered injuries in duty to get the retirement allowance;
• The public treasury will stand for these compensations because those elements didn’t finance the military retirement fund while on duty.
• This new law will enhance the social condition of thousands of military officers and civil personnel working for this institution , knowing that the allowance is calculated according to a pension fixed in 1976 and remained unchanged until the present time.
• For instance, the pension allocated to an element considered 100% unfit doesn’t exceed 2850 Algerian Dinars per month, which doesn’t cover even the basic needs of everyday life.
• The new pension is calculated on the basis of one and half the minimum guaranteed salary to reach the amount of 27 thousand Algerian Dinars.
