Director-designate slams CIA over Warren’s case

Incoming CIA Director Leon Panetta criticised the U.S. intelligence on Thursday saying it had mishandled a case in which its station chief in Algeria was accused last year of drugging and raping two Algerian women.

During his confirmation hearing before the Senate Intelligence Committee, Leon Panetta said that the agency should have disclosed the matter to Congress immediately, and that the CIA officer “should have been terminated” over such serious allegations.

Lawmakers said they were frustrated as they were not notified of the case until the media reported it last week.
