Disciplinary measures against military officers to be decided by the president
A presidential ordinance issued last June, decides that high -ranking military officers will not be summoned to an investigation committee in case of misconduct, unless ordered by the defence minister.

Being the commander in chief, the Algerian president is the only one eligible to summon the convicted officers to this committee which plays the role of a disciplinary and consultative body that decides on the nature of the punishments.
