Disciplinary measures against military officers to be decided by the president

A presidential ordinance issued last June, decides that high -ranking military officers will not be summoned to an investigation committee in case of misconduct, unless ordered by the defence minister.

• Being the commander in chief, the Algerian president is the only one eligible to summon the convicted officers to this committee which plays the role of a disciplinary and consultative body that decides on the nature of the punishments.
