Djamel Debouz : Hors La Loi movie is Al-Qaeda Cinema

Moroccan star Djamel Debouz described the working team of Hors La Loi (Outside the Law) as “Al-Qaeda Cinema”, saying controversy triggered by some extremists about the movie is normal. The film-maker Rachid Bouchareb told Echorouk the biggest price the movie obtained is screening it in spite of pressure.

  • Bouchareb did not hesitate to say he makes “controversial movies”, adding in an ironical way “look around me. I am surrounded by three intelligence guards. That’s great because I can now be proud of being in a position like US star Whitney Houston.”
  •
  • Djamel Boudebouz believes that being Muslim needs a longer time for integration than Italian and Polish people. “We experienced that through Hors La Loi. We have been fighting to produce it since we started looking for a sponsor until it is screened in Cannes.”
  •
  • “Discrimination will step back little by little not only in France but in the entire world. Thanks to movies like Hors de Loi, a day will come beat discrimination.”
  •
  • Debouz is not afraid that his positions would push French artistic and media environment to boycott him. “We are here waiting for them.”
  •
  • “Thanks to Allah, we can now impose our point of view. It is sure that we are not stupid to try to impose anything.”
  •
  • In an attempt to make him laugh, he told Bouchareb “you should have accepted my suggestion to turn your movie Indigenes into a comedy. If we did that, we would have 9 billion viewers.”
  •
  • Bouchareb replied him “I liked when you said yesterday to reporters we are like Al-Qaeda cinema.”
  •
  • “That is true. When a sponsor looks at Rachid Bouchareb, Djamel Debouz and Rochdi Zam feels that it is Al-Qaeda cinema approaching him with Djilbab (Islamic dress) and long beard,” he added.
