Djezzy not for sale and we will continue investment in Algeria : General Manager of Orascom Telecom Algeria

In this exclusive interview with the General Manager of Orascom Telecom Algeria, Tamer El Mehdi, unveiled his new strategy, priorities and methodology in conducting “Djezzy” after seven years of presence in the Algerian mobile market, refusing all the rumors which talked recently about the news of stopping Djezzy investments and selling it to a foreign trader, saying: “ Djezzy is not for sale”, with this phrase the new Director assured more than 14 million joints.

• *Echorouk: tell us about the recent rumors on the Djezzy company about talks with the French dealer of the mobile phones in order to buy it, are they  true or false?

• -Tamer EL Mehdi : They are completly false, they are just rumors…I think this trader had announced his intention to invest in Algeria and we stress that Djezzy is not for sale, and we continue investing strongly in Algeria, in order to improve the network and services.

• *Echorouk: This rumor may have a relationship with the crisis of Orascom Telecom, because of its shares’ value increase in the world market. To what extent Djezzy was affected with this crisis?

• -T-M: Shares in the stock market is always in embarkation and disembarkation, it depends on the financial market and the investment capacity… It is true that fluctuations have been recorded in the principal company, but that did not affect the company’s value.The crisis did not affect on Djezzy and its investment, I confirmed that we continue investment in Algeria.

• *Echorouk: Latest information from the madia reported that the controlling authority called you to give explanations about your company which did not respect the special instruction of the unknown slides. Is it true?

• -T.M: I was astonished when i heard about this news…No it is false, last Wednesday i was at the controlling authority to give a weekly report about the unknown slides identification.

• *Echorouk: What is the secret about Djezzy in this period particularly?
•  
• -T.M: Hassan Kabbani may move to Egypt and be replaced by a new director, especially since the gap which coincided with the receipt of my new missions was a strong chance to Djezzy enemies, who produces these rumors, but the general rule says that every success has enemies.
