Drastic measures ahead to curb road accidents in Algeria
The Joint Ministerial Committee in charge of the revision of some provisions concerning the Algerian rules of the road, decided to create a ministry for road safety reporting to the Prime Minister endowed with high prerogatives when executing sentences against the rules’ violators

This move aims at putting an end to the commonly known “roads’ terrorism” blamed for the killing of more that 4000 people a year. For instance, drivers who go over 120kph in a road whose speed limit does not exceed 80kph would be fined between 5000 and 50000 Algerian Dinars.

Other provisions will be submitted for revision by the committee concerning the limitation of the number of passengers in public transportations to spare human loses. Drivers who violate these rules will definitely lose their driving licenses.
