Drug baron arrested west of Algeria

Judicial police in the Oran province, west of Algeria, arrested Tuesday one of the most important drug barons, a member of an international smuggling network.

• The Algerian baron, 34 year old, was behind the smuggling of 70.000 narcotic pills  seized last summer in Oran port, security said.
• He was arrested inside his house in Oran after months of investigation and statements by other member belonging to the same smuggling network, who tried to smuggle a significant quantity of drugs abroad in Oran port.
• Previously, police arrested two dangerous drugs smugglers last September. They were involved in many smuggling operations foiled by security agents , including the smuggling of 7 tons of drugs in Saida locality, west of Algeria, and about 9 tons in Oran port.
