Drug tycoons appear before court in Algeria

A court in Oran (west of Algiers) Sunday started hearing 8 convicts in 30 involved in drug trafficking in the Maghreb .

The wrongdoers were charged of smuggling narcotics from Morocco through Algeria to Libya using the region of Ouargla (south-east of Algeria ), inn addition to forgery and illegal possession of arms.

The hearings will three days, while some members of this international network was sentenced in the court of Ouargla , the others are at large.

According to sources, one of the convicts is a Libyan who has been sentenced to life his country but escaped to dwell illegally in Algeria using fake identity.
