Earthquake kills one in western Algeria, inconsistencies about wounded number

A man was killed in an earthquake that rocked Oran Friday at around 9: 02 PM, the Civil Protection Department said Saturday in a statement.

• Civil protection officers said that H.A, 38, died after rocks had fallen while he was fishing with his friends in a region called “Jawalik Wahran.”
•  The statement did not mention whether the Civil Protection authorities recovered the body of the young man or he is still under rocks.
• Additionally, the official toll of wounded is 12 injured, the most serious case is a girl suffering from numerous fractures in various parts of her body because of the walls collapse in her house. She is still under medical care.
• Some unofficial sources registered 30 wounded, noticing that Friday’s earthquake was at 5.5 on the Richter scale-according to the researches centre of astronomy, astrophysics, and geophysics.
