Echorouk reporter braves danger in a terrorist stronghold

The city of Boumerdes, supposed to be the terrorist organization “Salafit Group for Preach and Combat” stronghold, is put under high alert to avert terrorist attacks thanks to the setting up of an impressive security apparatus including military checkpoints at the cty’s main entrances.

•  The small localities of Sidi Daoud, Baghlia, Delles, Ouled Aissa and Ben Choud  were transformed to genuine “ battle fields” for the circumstance as the whole area has been cordoned off by security forces who strengthened the measures before the holly month of Ramadan to secure the region and foil terrorist attacks.

• “As I’m concerned, I will cross the region because this is part of my job, and it’s up to you to decide”… These are words uttered by one of the gendarmerie officers met at the main entrance of the locality of Ouled Aissa, replying to our interrogation concerning the possibility to pass by the road in which a suspicious car was detected, before resuming to change our destination towards the city of Tadmait where a car exploded earlier by a military base.

• Before living we seized the opportunity to ask the officer further details about the suspicious car, this one replied that this one replied that this one was parking there more than two hours and he has already informed the relevant security forces and is waiting the investigators.

• On our way to the city of Delles, we went through several checkpoints set up by military troops and forced to slow down the pace to avoid problems with the troops. Half an hour after we arrived to the city of Tadmait which appeared to us as ghost-like town because of the total absence of light.. On spot, military troops crowded the place where a car rigged with explosives hit a military base killing three and wounding 6.

• People were stopping us to give their own version of the attack carried out earlier, saying that the explosion spread panic around the quiet city few minutes before sunset.
