Education: 70% of successful in recruitment competitions are women

National Syndicate of Workers of Education revealed that the reason why many teachers will continue working in the three phases of education, is that 70 percent of the winners in the competitions of employment, are women, so they refused to attend educational institutions because they are situated at a very far distance.

National secretary in charge of organization at the Syndicate of Workers in Education, Kouider Yahyaoui told Echorouk, that many vacant posts in education remain vacant is due to the rejection of the professors who have succeeded in the sector’s competition to join the educational institutions in which they were appointed, because they are located far from their homes, especially since the proportion of successful women is estimated at 70%, adding that most of them refuse to take a distance of 150 to 200 kilometers a day.

“95% of women joined the High Schools of Professors, because the success rate of females in the baccalaureate is larger than that of males, in addition to the high results in the bac exam. The Syndicate proposed the organization of competitions for teachers by regions and municipalities, and not by wilayas, as positions should be distributed by regions and municipalities, and each successful candidate should be directed to the region where he/she lives in order to avoid the problem of distance between home and workplace,” he added.

“Even the new educational institutions that were opened with the start of the school year, suffer from a flagrant lack in the category of teaching assistants and professional workers, especially cleaners and maintenance workers, because the general law of the Civil Service 03/06 prevents succession in management positions, therefor they remain vacant until the organization of new employment competitions. Pedagogical and administrative stability are very important for the success of the educational process on the grounds that they are complementary elements”.
