On the sidelines of his visit to the eastern town of Tebessa, the education minister, Abu Bakr ben Bouzid declared that the catch up lessons were undermining the education system and that his sector will not assume the consequences. He laid the blame on local authorities saying that it up to them to stop the charlatans from thriving.

  • The minister said that the provided all the facilities for the students to guarantee a maximum rate of success including free catch up sessions inside their schools.
  • The declaration comes against the backdrop of prices’ soars concerning private lessons that grew a phenomenon used by teachers to make ends meet; and some of them garnered huge sums of money out of these lessons.
  • At the end of his visit, the minister took the floor before journalists and took the opportunity to declare that the latest turmoil that shook the little city of Berriane (southern Algeria) will not have any impact on the 180 students, since the schedule was fully fulfilled.
